Una unconmemoración comunitaria de recuerdo, resiliencia y retorno
Este altar comunitario digital es un archivo vivo de memoria para la sanación y el recuerdo. Creado para Altadena, en respuesta al incendio de Eaton de 2025, invitamos a todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad de Altadena a compartir imágenes de personas, animales, hogares, paisajes y momentos que fueron transformados para siempre por la pérdida y marcados por la resiliencia. A lo largo de las culturas y la historia, los altares han servido como espacios sagrados para honrar a los ancestros, conmemorar momentos importantes y acompañar el duelo y la gratitud colectivos. Son lugares donde la memoria no se borra, sino que se preserva.
Al reunir estas imágenes, reconocemos que el recuerdo en sí mismo es un acto de amor y que honrar el pasado nos ayuda a restaurar el significado, la conexión y la esperanza en el presente.

Moved to Altadena in 2011 to care for my twin grandsons who started kindergarten in 2013 at ASL (Aveson) and are now seniors graduating in June from AGLS. The Aveson community was my anchor and neither Aveson school is in Altadena any more.

Robi Couley narrowly escaped the fire at her back. She survived but is now at home with her Ancestors, I say her name.

A simple moment in time, in the living room, the animals napped as I was doing paperwork. We were so comfortable and so oriented there, both inside and outside that room and house, attuned to our world. The room, the house is gone, but the animals and I remain and those times of simple daily comfort remain cherished in my memory and in my being.
